Description
Biosphere Sphere
Sump Aquarium Filtration
The Biological Sphere (BioBall) is a biological and mechanical filtration system made of plastic that separates and filters water as it passes through the channels. Its large surface area also provides a habitat for aerobic nitrification bacteria.
- It is a biological filtration equipment. The spherical plastic material features an expanded surface area with channels and holes inside, providing an ideal environment for the growth of aerobic bacteria.
- Water passing over these spheres becomes enriched with oxygen and accelerates the formation of aerobic bacteria.
- It provides a surface area for the bacteria necessary for the conversion of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.
- The pastes on the abrasion surfaces formed on the inner surfaces help achieve the biological purpose more effectively.
- The choice of raw materials should not be overlooked. Biological spheres (BioBalls) made from recycled raw materials under the pretense of being eco-friendly can lead to negative effects over time due to the waste they may contain. In this regard, metallic coloring is used to stabilize the plastic. Additionally, inorganic additives are used to accelerate biological interaction.
- Although 16 BioBalls occupy 1 liter, they have 30% more surface area compared to 1 liter of standard BioBalls. Due to their more effective surface area compared to alternatives, the area calculation should be multiplied by 2.
- In 1 decimeter (desi), there are 33 pieces of 32mm BioBalls.
- The surface area of each BioBall is 200 cm².
